FAQ

The Answers You Need

How long have you been rescuing animals?

Our founder started fostering dogs and becoming involved in a local rescue in 2006. She had 2 dogs of her own and moved into a dog-friendly building where the landlord/owner was heavily into rescuing out of Mexico.  She has always had unconditional love for dogs, all animals really, but hearing about the struggles of the dogs across the border, ignited a spark that lit the fire of her passion to save the dogs that needed saving the most.  She volunteered and fostered for several local San Diego rescues and until recently was on the board of PAWS4Thought Rescue in San Diego.  She always felt a need to do more, to help more.  In 2019, she decided to take the leap and start her own rescue.  Amazing Strays Rescue is a product of her love for dogs and her passion to help the helpless.

Veterinary Care and Vaccinations:

During the FTA period, Amazing Strays Rescue (ASR) will be responsible for medically necessary veterinary care with prior approval unless it is the result of negligence or as the result of unreasonable decision making. ASR covers core vaccinations as deemed medically necessary by the American Animal Hospital Association which include; Deworming, 3 DHPP, Bordetella, and Rabies. ASR also covers Microchip and Spay/Neuter by the clinic or veterinarian of our choice. Please note that your vet may recommend additional tests, vaccinations or boosters based on your lifestyle or environment, but the cost will not be covered by ASR.

Spay/Neuter

  • To receive the service when the dog is the appropriate age, we will coordinate with you to dropoff and pick up the pup at HQ to be transported to our vet.

  • If you prefer to take the pup to your own vet when they are ready for a spay/neuter and microchip, you may do so and ASR will refund $100 of your puppy adoption fee with proof of spay/neuter and microchip. You may also choose to donate the $100 back to ASR to help us further our mission.

  • All dogs adopted from ASR are required to be spayed or neutered and microchipped.
