Foster a Pup!
Fostering means bringing in a dog or any other homeless pet — with the goal of nurturing them for a while until they can be adopted into a permanent home with a family who’ll love them forever.
Why should I foster a dog?
Fostering a dog is one of the most rewarding experiences you can have, other than adopting, of course. By taking an animal in need temporarily into your home you are:
freeing up a spot so the shelter or rescue can take in another dog.
giving your foster dog the time he needs to be ready for adoption.
helping the shelter or rescue learn more about the dog so he/she can end up in the best home possible.
assisting with the socialization process including a loving home environment, new pack introduction, situational adjustments, and group exercise visits (beach/parks)
As the Foster, you will have an up-close and personal, day to day experiences with your ASR Foster Dog. You will be the best resource for questions related to your foster pup. We advertise on Social Media (Facebook, Instagram, NextDoor), but it is important for the Foster to maintain updated photos/videos to be forwarded to ASR. We ask that the Foster family also post on their social media sites for potential adopters. We also ask that you send regular updates to your coordinator about the pup's progress using the "Tell us about your Foster Pup" form.
ASR will make every effort possible to accommodate transportation to and from an adoption event. However, if an ASR representative cannot transport the foster dog, it is appreciated if the Foster could work with ASR to work out a solution so the Foster Dog can attend the event.
